At Hadid Galvanizing, we take pride in being recognized as Bangladesh’s most trusted name in hot-dip galvanizing.
With cutting-edge technology and a dedicated team, we deliver world-class
corrosion protection for steel structures—ensuring they stand strong for
decades.
What
is Hot-Dip Galvanizing?
Hot-Dip Galvanizing is a highly effective method to protect steel and iron from
rust and corrosion. The process involves immersing fabricated steel into molten
zinc, forming a strong zinc-iron alloy coating that bonds metallurgically
with the base metal. This layer acts as both a physical barrier and a sacrificial
shield, ensuring long-lasting protection even in harsh environments.
Our
Galvanizing Process—Step by Step
We follow internationally recognized
standards to ensure precision, safety, and consistency at every stage:
Material
Receiving & Inspection: All materials are checked upon arrival. Any issue—like design flaws or
contaminants—is promptly communicated to the client.
Caustic Cleaning: Oils, grease, dirt, and paint are removed using a heated caustic solution.
Acid Pickling: Surface rust and scale are cleaned off using a mild acid bath.
Rinsing: Thorough rinsing removes residual acid and iron salts before moving to the next
step.
Fluxing: A zinc-ammonium chloride solution preps the surface, eliminating moisture and
oxides.
Galvanizing: The cleaned steel is dipped into molten zinc, forming a protective zinc-alloy
coating. Immersion time depends on material thickness.
Quenching: Rapid cooling halts the reaction and helps prevent white rust formation.
Finishing
& Quality Checks: We inspect surface finish, test coating thickness (ASTM standards), and weigh
materials for verification.
Packaging
& Delivery: After passing all tests, materials are carefully packed and shipped safely to
your location.

Design Considerations for Hot-Dip Galvanizing: Hole Sizes
When the decision is made to hot-dip galvanize, it is important to consider all aspects of the project, down to the smallest hole. Because hot-dip galvanizing is a coating of zinc on bare steel, the original steel becomes slightly thicker. Typical galvanized coatings range from 3-8 mils (75-200 microns). When designing and detailing tapped holes, the increased thickness is important. Hole sizes in certain fabricated steel products must be oversized to account for the zinc ...

Welding After Hot-Dip Galvanizing
Preparation of Weld Area AWS D–19.0, Welding Zinc-Coated Steel, calls for welds to be made on steel that is free of zinc in the area to be welded. Thus, for galvanized structural components of fabrication, the zinc coating should be removed at least one to four inches (2.5–10 cm) from either side of the intended weld zone and on both sides of the workpiece. Grinding back the zinc coating is the preferred and most common method; burning the zinc away or pushing back the m...

Protecting Metal Gratings: The Benefits of Hot Dip Galvanizing
When applied to metal gratings, hot dip galvanizing offers several key benefits: Corrosion resistance: Metal gratings are often exposed to harsh environments that can cause corrosion and rust. Hot dip galvanizing creates a protective layer that helps prevent corrosion, even in highly corrosive environments. Durability: Galvanized metal gratings are highly durable and can withstand heavy loads, extreme temperatures, and frequent use. This makes them ideal for use in industri...

Design Considerations for Hot-Dip Galvanizing: Threaded Assemblies
Best practice also recommends studs and bolted assemblies be sent to the galvanizer disassembled. Masking to prevent galvanizing threads on pipes or fittings is very difficult. The recommended practice is to clean and tap after galvanizing. Anchoring devices (such as threaded rods and anchor bolts) sometimes are specified to be galvanized in the threaded areas only or in the areas to be exposed above ground. This can be more expensive than galvanizing the complete unit becaus...
